MediNav — HTML 5 WEB

The MediNav HTML 5 Web product allows users to access navigation information from virtually anywhere. A user's wayfinding journey starts long before they get to the hospital. Connexient's deep integration as a Google Maps for Work Partner enables a true end-to-end, outdoor + indoor maps and navigation experience. For pre-planning purposes parking recommendations are available as well as route/directions printing options and send to phone features. Full-blue dot navigation is not available on this platform.

Originally web was limited to desktop only. After client request, Mobile optimized version was quickly created but not fully thought out. Web 2.0 is fully revamped experience featuring responsive design for desktop, tablet and mobile devices.

USER FLOW

The user flow outlines every decision point, every action and every screen and how they interact and function together.

Desktop/Tablet user flows are the same. Mobile has limited funcationality.

ORIGINAL vs. UPDATED SCREEN FLOW

HOME SCREEN

Slide 1 & 2: Website opens to the outdoor Google map with outline of the hospital. User can click on the outline and be brought to the inside map of the hospital floors. Explore bar has clickable POIs that can be clicked and enable markers on the map. Global search of hospital listings or filter by category to browse listings.

Slide 3: Map functionality works the same. In Web 2.0, like Kiosk 2.0 the side bar has all of the necessary directory and search functionality as well as "get directions" button available at all times. Explore bar has been replaced with static "mini POIs" on the map that are both click about and routable. (ex inside map)

SEARCH SCREEN

Slide 1 & 3: Outdoor map has the option to search the hospital directory by typing in a persons name or place. The database will reveal all locations stored in the CMS. Select a listing and be brought to the profile screen for more information and routing. User can only search one database at a time. (ie, google maps or hospital CMS). The Directory search allows the user to filter their search by category.

Slide 2 & 4: Because Web allows both outdoor and indoor maps there are many different locations both inside and outside to view. I wanted to combine the outdoor and indoor maps in one global search because one of the main pain points of users were they could only search one at a time. The Directory search allows the user to filter their search by category and browse for their desired listing. This is useful if the user isn't sure of exactly what they are looking for. Listings are organized in alphabetical order with an infinite scroll or "ABC" quick select. When searching for a physician a physician filter is available to narrow down the search by specialty and/or location. Click on a search selection to view the Profile Screen.

PROFILE SCREEN

Slides 1 & 2: Click on a search selection to view the Profile Screen. The profile screen consists of the destinations location on the map in addition to name, address and other details pertaining to selection. Click on GoTo button (slide 1) or Get Directions button (slide 2) to open the directions screen.

PARKING PLANNER

Slide 1: User can enter any inside destination point by typing the the search field. If entering a street address or location outside of the hospital, user must enable the street address button prior to entering the street address. This has been very confusing to users.

Slide 2 & 3: The only difference between the original design and the updated design is that the outdoor and indoor searches are combined into a global search.

Directions screen flow also includes the "Parking Planner". Parking planner allows the patient/visitor to find the closest parking garage to their appointment when pre-planning their trip.

DIRECTIONS SCREEN

ROUTING SCREEN

ROUTING SCREEN

Slide 1: Routing screen shows a step-by-step "stages" of each segment of the route and then step-by-step within each stage. Because indoor routing consists of multiple floors "stages" are necessary to switch between maps of each floor. User is also able to activate POIs on the map from the top bar.

Slide 2: Step-by-step with in the stages have been removed. Giving the user the general idea of where they are going and calling out visual landmarks will help them orient themselves better when routing. This also encourages the user to download the app if they want a more step-by-step experience.

Slide 1: To encourage adoption of the mobile app, the top banner will enable a pop-up where the user will select the device they have and enter either their email or phone number and have a link sent to their phone to then download the app.

Slide 2: Upon entering the website's address the FIRST screen would be the pop-up encouraging the download of the app. Updating the app pop-up screen eliminates one tap, user will only have to enter their email or phone number and the system will automatically recognize which device they have and send them a link to their respective app/play store.

APP DOWNLOAD POP-UP

MOBILE VERSION

Mobile will have limited functionality compared to the desktop and tablet version. The purpose of mobile is to drive adoption of the app. Give the user enough functionality to try and route, but then direct them to download the app.
